Biography
Alan Evans works a recording, mixing, mastering engineer and producer based in Western Massachusetts. Best known as a co-founder, writer, drummer, and engineer of Soulive, Alan has worked on hundreds of recordings over the past three decades. “As an artist myself, I understand the power that music holds in people's lives. Every lyric, note, and rhythm has the potential to create unforgettable moments for both artists and listeners alike. That’s why I take my role in shaping these experiences so seriously.”
Growing up in a musically rich household in Buffalo, NY, Alan was surrounded by the sounds of Miles Davis, Ray Charles, and Jimi Hendrix, thanks to his father and older brother. This early exposure to diverse music laid the foundation for his lifelong passion. As a teenager, Alan began playing in clubs, which led to his first studio recording experiences. With many of his questions unanswered by engineers, Alan decided to teach himself the craft of studio recording, mixing, and production.
With over 30 years of experience, Alan continues to enliven the music scene through his record label, Vintage League Music, and collaborations with diverse bands across genres like jazz, reggae, funk, rock, and Americana. Recent releases include work with Oteil Burbridge and MonoNeon, both recorded in Iceland at Floki Studios. His dedication to music, both as an artist and a producer, remains at the heart of his life's work, driving him to create and inspire every day.
